In the fast-paced world of software development, change is the only constant. Yet, as we innovate and push the boundaries of what’s possible, it is vital to remember the "ivory" foundations upon which our brand was built. Today, we are thrilled to unveil the next chapter of our visual identity: The New Avori Logo.
This isn't just a facelift. It’s a refinement of our philosophy, a nod to the giants of technology who came before us, and a bold statement about where we are headed.
Behind the Name: Why "Avori"?
To understand our new look, you first have to understand our name. Avori is the Italian word for Ivory.
In the natural world, ivory is one of the most remarkable materials ever discovered. It is durable, rare, and carries an inherent elegance. In the world of technology, we believe software should mirror these qualities. Code should be clean, resilient, and—most importantly—valuable. By naming ourselves Avori, we committed to a standard of "Ivory-grade" development: building solutions that are both structurally sound and aesthetically refined.
The Icon: From Prehistoric Strength to Modern Precision
For a long time, the mammoth served as our guide. As you can see in our previous logo, the mammoth was represented by a stark, white wireframe. It was a symbol of raw power and the massive scale of the problems we aim to solve.
In our new identity, we have evolved that mammoth into a more stylized, solid silhouette. In the tech world, the elephant is a legendary mascot. From the iconic PHP "elePHPant" to the PostgreSQL "Slonik," the elephant represents a unique intersection of traits:
- Memory: "An elephant never forgets." In data and software, persistence and memory are the bedrock of every system.
- Strength at Scale: Elephants move with a deliberate, unstoppable power. We build software that handles heavy loads with that same grace.
- Community: Elephants are highly social and collaborative creatures, reflecting our approach to client partnerships and people first philosophy.
By keeping the mammoth as our core icon, we remain connected to these tech traditions while carving out our own niche.
The "Elephant in the Room": The Saddle
The most striking addition to our new logo is the vibrant green caparison (or jhool)—the ceremonial saddle draped over our mammoth.
While this element provides a necessary pop of color to our logo, its meaning goes deeper. Historically, a caparisoned elephant was a sign of royalty, used only for the most important journeys and prestigious events. It represents software that is "dressed for the occasion." It’s no longer just a raw beast of burden; it is a refined, directed force.
There is also a fascinating tradition found in the Talmud, which suggests that seeing a saddled elephant in a dream is a good omen. We like to think of our new logo as a good omen for our clients. When you see the Avori saddle, you know that the "beast" of complex backend architecture has been tamed, decorated, and made ready for your success.
And let’s be honest: if mammoths were still roaming the earth today, humans wouldn’t just be observing them—we’d be riding them. The saddle represents the "human interface" of our tech. It’s the seat from which you control the power of the mammoth.
A Font for the Future
Beyond the icon, you will notice a significant change in the Avori typography. Our old font was functional, but our new typeface is a customized, tech-forward statement.
The new font features:
- Architectural Symmetry: Notice the clean, wide-set letters that suggest stability.
- Customized Angles: The "A" and the "V" are designed to feel like interconnected components, mirroring the way our software integrates into your existing workflows.
- Modern Legibility: It’s a "digital-first" font, designed to look as sharp on a mobile screen as it does on a massive data center billboard.
The sharper, more "tech" look of the text balances the organic curves of the mammoth icon. It represents the perfect harmony between organic intelligence and artificial precision.
Looking Ahead
As we roll out this new branding across platforms, our mission remains the same: to provide the "Ivory" standard of software. We are the same team, fueled by the same passion for code, but we now have a visual identity that matches the scale of our ambitions.
We’re moving forward with the strength of the mammoth, the memory of the elephant, and the good fortune of the saddle. We invite you to join us on this journey.
What do you think of the new look? We’d love to hear your thoughts on our evolution. Keep an eye out for our new "saddled" mammoth appearing in our content, documentation, and swag very soon!
